This is whole grain organic barley which has had the inedible hull removed. It is a wonderful addition to soups and stews. Cooked barley also makes a great side dish, pilaf or can be a salad addition. To cook barley, add 4 parts water to 1 part hulled barley and simmer for 1 to 2 hours until tender. Barley is very high in beneficial soluble and insoluble fiber and has one of the lowest glycemic indexes of all grains.
